Hong Kong | Week 2 | Ngong Ping, Stanley & Hong Kong Jockey Club

The second installment of my Hong Kong trip. You can see my first one here. For the second week, the itinerary included taking the Ngong Ping cable car in Lantau to see the Giant Buddha, shopping at the Ladies’ Market in Mongkok, visited Shenzhen for a little culture change – it was a different experience that’s all I gotta say, stroll on the boardwalk at Stanley waterfront mart, and attended a wedding Hong Kong Jockey Club – gorgeous venue, and a little night relaxing at the rooftop patio of the IFC mall.

Hong Kong | Week 1 | The Peak

I know it’s not Day 3, 4 and so forth. This is actually better

. Highlights of the week. Actually, after Day 3 we would always get home past midnight and since there’s a lot of “hustle and bustle” in Hong Kong I get so wiped out by the time we get home. And then the next day we’d have to wake up early so we don’t waste a day! Yep! Story of my life. But I actually didn’t mind the fast pace environment. It was definitely a good change of pace. Now I’m back and my time is a lil’ messed up. I’m going to try and roll out the rest of the photos from Hong Kong this week before I leave again next week. Anyway, enjoy my “adventures”.

This was the view from the Peak. You know when they say “the grass is greener on the other side”? Yeah well according to this picture, the grass is greener on this side. Haha! Yes, lame. I had to insert that somewhere! Lol. This was near sunset so that’s why you can see how it’s golden in the background.

Hong Kong subway, train, or metro. Or as they call it, “MTR”. It gets pretty packed but it takes you around conveniently.

They have a lot of pedestrian bridges over the main roads.

IFC (International Finance Center) mall. You’ll find lots of brand names in here. Stopped by here more than once.

Lucas’ friend, Andrew, who was kind enough to drive us to the Peak after he finished work! Oh and they didn’t call each other to wear matching t-shirts. ;P

On a streetcar! Lucas told me how it’s one of the oldest in Hong Kong or something like that? I was just getting snap-happy and he tells me history and became a tour guide. Lol. I love learning but when I’m taking photos – I’m pretty much focused on my frame.

Hong Kong | Day 2

Day 2 of Hong Kong! I’ve adjusted to Hong Kong time and I’m loving every second of it. We picked up Lucas at the airport. He was late for the luggage check-in so he had to leave his bag at the airport back home and have his brother bring it today. So we’re going back to the airport for the 3rd time! haha. I went to the Hong Kong Apple store at IFC – they have 2 floors!!! Take a look at my Instagram pic. Anyway here are the highlights of my day:

I didn’t take as much photos – they’re mostly on my Instagram. But here’s a brief summary of my first day in Hong Kong! It’s 9pm local time here and I’m sleepy! 15 hour plane ride, direct flight, can be tiring. I can’t fall asleep on the plane.

I know I missed last week’s Fave Fridays post but I had a really good reason! I was busy running around preparing for my sister’s surprise 18th birthday! Yeah. It was a last minute decision to have one for her and we only had one month to prepare for it. If you know Filipino culture, this is called the “debut”. It was a successful event! I wish I had taken some photos but I was also busy running around trying to keep everything scheduled. Oh and the candy bar, it was devoured. I was just going to get one red velvet mini cupcake made by Rona of So Into Cupcakes and there was nada. zip. zero. Anyway, the goal was to get my sister to cry – happy tears. Mission accomplished. Oh and the excuse to get her to the hall?

“Hey, Monica do you want to do a photo shoot with you and two of your close friends? You can borrow some of my dresses. Just meet me at the hall – I’m already shooting an event there”

It totally worked. She fell for it. The dress? I bought it for her – because I didn’t have the perfect dress in my closet fit for the event for the birthday girl. Now I can borrow it from her. Hehe. What? That’s what sisters are for, right? Haha

Anyway, this Fave Fridays (like the title on the left? I thought it needed its own fancy title)post is dedicated to my favourite iPhone app that I use on a daily basis. INSTAGRAM. Equipped with camera, photo filters, tilt-shift, and social sharing. I love that I can take a photo then quickly add a filter and tilt-shift effect and quickly share to instagram, twitter, tumblr, facebook, and flickr. The number of effects is just right. Not too many and not too little. iPhoneography at it’s best. As Chase Jarvis would say, “The best camera is the one that’s with you”.

This week I also celebrated my birthday! Yay! I spent it at Auberge du Pommier with a few of my close friends. French food at its best. It was probably the best lobster I’ve had and coconut rice too! (Homard Poché au Beurre Doux). Oh yes, back to the topic of this post. I took a few photos from that night. Oh and the cute Louis Vuitton inspired cake? Lucas surprise me with that.

So it’s November! My favourite month! Okay I may be biased because my birthday is this month. lol. It’s FRIIIDAY *sings Rebecca Black song* haha. Guess what? It’s 11.11.11!!! I know pretty awesome. Today I’m actually attending a wedding.

Okay back to this post. I don’t normally drink coffee but when I need to I drink it. For this I choose the Nescafe Nespresso coffee maker or the Keurig Coffee Maker (my favourite K-Cup is the German Chocolate Cake – the aroma is delicious!). I only have the Nescafe with me but I actually want to get the T-Fal Tassimo for Nescafe Dolce Gusto because it looks so cute! Like a robot. Anyway, I’ll keep this short.

Fave Fridays again! Yay! This post will talk about one of my favourite “past time“. lol. PINTEREST!

I am so addicted to Pinterest! It’s basically, pinning your interests. I find a lot of inspiration on the web and Pinterest helps me keep a “scrapbook” of them. Categorized. Nice layout. Good UI (user interface). And it’s easy! I tend to be a forgetful person. So when I try to reference something but I forgot how it looks but I know I “pinned” it, I can easily go back and look for it. Get inspired along the way. Sometimes I see a pose that I like or lighting that I like. A few weeks later, my mind is juggling other things. I think to myself, “I know I wanted to try something new…“. Anyway, I’ve had Pinterest for a couple of months now and I’ve been pinning like crazy! Okay, maybe not so crazy because I don’t want to not be able to find anything with the mass amount of pins. But it’s definitely more than enough and still “pinning”! So I have this one category called “Wedding” – this is where I keep my inspiration and ideas for my future wedding and for my brides-to-be. You can say this is my inspiration board.

Oh yes. FOOD! These make me drool! Some of them even have recipes!!! There are some cool ideas too! Definitely going to pinterest when I host a girls night.

Fave Fridays | Blazers

Okay so I have this obsession with Blazers. I think it started just last year? Or the year before that. I fell in love with them for the simple reason that they go with ANYTHING. You can wear them casually. You can wear them to work. You can wear them over a dress. I feel comfortable shooting in them. They can provide cover for the sun (for my fragile pale skin). They can provide warmth in chilly weather. If the fabric is waterproof, they can provide cover for the rain!

I have about … 10 of them. Wow! I actually didn’t know I had that many until I counted. Anyway, I have them in different colours. I do still need one in blue (hehe). I prefer them with 1 button or no buttons at all. I prefer pockets to keep small things. Yes I use the pockets – I know some people don’t (they keep them stitched). Especially when shooting. I put my cards in there so I don’t have to dig in my Shootsac. But anyway, here are some photos where I wear blazers – these ones are specifically my favourite ones. Oh and if you’re wondering where I got them: Aritzia, Zara, H&M. The others I have to check the tags.

Yay! Another “Fave Fridays” post. I think that every woman’s closet should at least have one pair of classic pumps. I was definitely in search of one this past summer! My other pumps just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. Or I’d like to think. Actually, I don’t even know where they went. =/. I bought a pair of classic patent pumps from Christian Louboutin St. Honoré in Paris.

You gotta admit that they’re pretty photogenic
