Well, not literally. Lol. The weather is warming up and it’s time for those sexy dresses and little shorts. Oh and don’t forget the bikinis. It is the first day of June and more people are getting out of their hibernation. Well, from what I can see on the streets when I’m driving. You know, I would love to spend every day at the beach but that’s not likely because I don’t tan easily – I actually burn easily. That’s not very attractive when I start peeling. Yeah you know what I’m talking about… I recently went to New York City about a week and a half ago to attend a wedding as a guest at Crest Hollow Country Club (gorgeous venue!). When we got to New York it was a little chilly, but on the actual wedding day they were blessed with perfect weather since the cocktail hour was outdoors. Anyway, I was able to spend some time with my family and do a little bit of shopping and tourist-ing. We also visited Boston, Massachusetts. Guess where we went? Harvard University. We just went to Harvard Square to eat. We visited a few places like TD Gardens, New England Aquarium, and did a little bit of shopping. On the way home I was dropped off at the Buffalo airport to catch my flight to Orlando, Florida. Lucas had already flown there the Sunday and I flew on Tuesday. We decided to go to a Sunny destination for his birthday. So yes, we went to the Sunshine State! They picked me up from Orlando airport and had lunch. Then, we went straight to Universal Studios! It was my first time going and I had so much fun! I felt like a kid again. Not that I’m saying I’m old but you know, younger. Lol. The next day we went to Aquatica by Seaworld. It felt so nice to be in cool water under the hot sun. Oh and I would like to think that I got tanned, but no one believes me. Okay, maybe I went half a shade darker. Afterwards, we went to dinner for Lucas’ birthday. I chose where to eat. It was my first time in Orlando. So I went on to Urbanspoon to look for a place. I went for Dragonfly Modern Izakaya & Sushi. I wanted to try their robata grill dishes. AND, it looked like a nice place to celebrate. I didn’t actually bring my SLR on this trip since I wanted to pack light and also enjoy the parks and time with Lucas and his mom. I did take some photos on my iPhone but I will upload when I get the chance. I did get him a lil’ something as a surprise: just a Louis Vuitton wallet and a Lacoste belt for when he golfs. But spending time with him was better than any presents.

Oh yes, the photo on the right was a candid from a client’s shoot. It was a cloudy day and it was spitting rain. Near sunset, I believe.

So I thought I’d post this because I think it’s really cute! My DVD packaging! This is basically what you will get when you receive your DVD of images or slideshow. I incorporated my signature black and white ribbon like I did here on my portraits album. It also comes with a note on textured paper! Check it out and let me know what you think!

A lil’ update for you, my lovely readers. The weather is definitely getting warm and wet, might I add. Spring is definitely around the corner and since we’re going to have daylight savings time this Sunday we’re going to “spring forward” by one hour. I’m just getting into the groove for the coming season. I’ve recently shot a wedding last month, you can check it out here if you haven’t already. I’ve also shot a Christening the last weekend of February so check back for that, adorable twins! Next month, I’m going to see how much Kiara has grown!

Helios 40-2 85mm f/1.5 M42 MC Lens

Don’t worry, the lens itself is not scratched up, it’s just the filter applied when I took it with Instagram.

An old Russian lens. It’s actually belongs to a friend of mine. When I saw it I was like “what is that strange contraption you got on your camera?”. Because all I saw was this big silver tube with screws! Of course, I asked if I could give it a try. A manual lens. It has three rings: focus, aperture, and “open/close”. The open/close feature ties in with the exposure. Anyway, I was playing around with it and took a photo of my comrade (yeah he’s Russian), Mikhail. He tells me stories about Russia and how they drink Vodka as water! Well, mainly because vodka there is cheaper and almost the same price as pop.

Pretty cool huh? Its an 85mm lens and I could get closer to my subject than the Canon 85mm f1.2.

While I was in Japan, I saw something really interesting, everywhere. It was a new way to attract curiosity or save in your phone. It was a new way of advertising or a contact information. QR CODES. These codes were everywhere! It was a code you can use to print your boarding pass. It was a code to get you to their website through your phone, especially in the subway because there’s wi-fi! It was a code that after taking photos in a photo booth you can scan this code to with your phone and save it. It was used everywhere. In restaurants. On products. Advertising. It was pretty cool. I can honestly say that Japan has a quick adaptation to technology. If you don’t know what QR codes are, this is what they look like:

Go ahead try to scan it with your iPhone, Android phone, or Blackberry, or if you have something that scans QR codes.
